Three Wheel Motorcycle Endorsement

If you’re a motorcycle rider in Virginia, you know that you need a Virginia motorcycle endorsement in order to stay legal. Let’s take a look at the different designations for Virginia motorcycle endorsement: the standard M endorsement, the M2 endorsement, and the M3 endorsement.

The M endorsement encompasses both two and three wheel motorcycle endorsement. If you qualify for both two and three wheel endorsement, you’ll receive the M endorsement on your license. If you only qualify for the two wheel endorsement, you’ll receive the M2 endorsement on your license. If you’ve gone through 3 wheel motorcycle training, you’ll receive the M3 endorsement or the three wheel motorcycle endorsement.

When you’re deciding whether you want to get the M endorsement, the two wheel motorcycle endorsement, or the three wheel motorcycle endorsement, you’ll want to consider not just the motorcycle you ride now, but also any motorcycles you may want to ride in the future. You may enjoy riding three wheelers now, and you may have gone through 3 wheel motorcycle training, but if you can see yourself riding a 2 wheel vehicle in the future, it may make sense to get your M endorsement.
