Alive at 25 is a highly interactive defensive driving course developed by the National Safety Council. It has been proven to help teens and young adults under the age of 25 take greater responsibility for their driving by focusing on the choices they make while driving, and their behavior, judgment and decision making. It discusses techniques to cope with peer pressure, passengers, distractions, cell phones and driving hazards. This class is used in many states by schools for parking permits, insurance companies for driver discounts, courts for first infractions and employers to address their younger employees’ decisions and habits behind the wheel.

More than 6500 teens that attended Alive at 25 had their driving records, citations, crashes and DUI arrests evaluated before and after taking the class. The outcomes on the present evaluation found significant and worthwhile before and after effects which can be attributed to the program. In addition, the study stated that “when compared to driving behavior in the year before taking the class, there is a significant reduction in crashes, citations and DUI arrests“.
